² saying, “Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”^[a]

³ When King Herod heard, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And when he had called together all the ruling kohanim and Torah scholars, he began to inquire of them where the Messiah was to be born.
